Past Folk events at the Links
The Doghouse Roses, Katarina Juvancic and Djan Lapanja
Date: Tuesday 14 August 2012
The late summer and autumn season at Montrose Folk Club opens with a singer songwriter double bill.
Glasgow-based Doghouse Roses are Paul Tasker, on guitar and various stringed instruments, with Iona MacDonald on vocals. The Doghouse Roses are touring Scotland in August supported by Katarina Juvancic and Dejan Lapanja from Slovenia.
Paul Tasker and Iona MacDonald are two folk musicians who, although traditionalists by nature, view music in a non-traditional way. They have been inspired by acts ranging from Bert Jansch and Sandy Denny to The Stooges and the MC5.
Although Katarina and Dejan are from Slovenia, they sing in English. Their music is often described as alternative-folk. Dejan is a versatile musician and producer who currently also plays with the globe-trotting world-jazz attraction, Vasko Atanasovski Trio.
