Heidi Talbot with McCusker, Hewerdine

One of the highlights of the season at the Montrose Folk Club will be the appearance of the former Cherished The Ladies lead vocalist, Heidi Talbot.
Heidi Talbot has a wonderful voice which is equally suited to traditional material as well as to songs by contemporary singers such as Tom Waits. She will be accompanied on fiddle by John McCusker and on guitar by Boo Hewerdine.
John McCusker is an outstanding fiddler with a stellar career to date. Highlights have included Membership of the Battlefield Band at the age of 17, numerous television appearances, Membership of the Kate Rusby Band and touring the World for most of the last year with Dire Straits.
Boo Hewerdine is a singer / songwriter, whose songs have been popularised by Eddi Reader. As well as providing guitar backing, Boo will also contribute some of his own excellent material.
Heidi Talbot released an outstanding solo album in 2008 entitled "In Love and Light". This featured material as diverse as the Scottish traditional ballad, "Glenlogie", the vintage hit by the Ink Spots, "Whispering Grass" and the Tom Waits bitter-sweet classic, "Time".
The voice of Heidi Talbot has drawn comparisons as varied as Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams and Alison Krauss. Her singing has an exquisitely expressive, honeyed yet ardent quality.
