Performing after his appearance at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Nashville-based David Olney is regarded as one of the best songwriters in the USA.
The songs of David Olney have been covered by numerous Artists, including Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and Del McCoury.
Originally from a rock background, David Olney has a powerful blues tinged vocal style. He will be accompanied in his appearances at Celtic Connections and at Montrose Folk Club by an amazing electric guitarist in Sergio Webb.
The late Townes Van Zandt was a big fan of David Olney. The following is a quote from Townes Van Zandt - "Anytime anyone asked me who my favourite music writers are, I say Mozart, Lightnin' Hopkins, Bob Dylan and Dave Olney. Dave Olney is one of the best songwriters I've ever heard - and that's true. I mean that from the heart."
