Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies
Date: Tuesday 23 October 2007

Jez Lowe has spent the last 25 years taking his songs, many written about his native North East England, to audiences around the world.
Recorded by the likes of Fairport Convention, The Dubliners, The Tannahill Weavers and many more, the songs of Jez Lowe are widely sung in Clubs, Festivals and Concert Halls throughout the UK and beyond.
As a live performer, Jez Lowe is one of the busiest around, accompanying himself on guitar, mandolin and harmonica and with what London’s Time Out Magazine called his "Engaging Northern wit".
The music of the Bad Pennies with fiddle, bass, piano, Northumbrian Pipes and trademark vocal harmonies has been described as "acoustic simplicity coupled with electric vitality".
Appearances at some of the world's largest festivals plus a four star review in the prestigious "Q" magazine stand testament to that.
The Bad Pennies feature on guitar and vocals, Kate Bramley, who is herself an accomplished singer and songwriter with a solo career of her own.
The appearance at Montrose of Jez Lowe and The Bad Pennies is sure to be one of the highlights of 2007 for the Club. Jez has been described by Richard Thompson as "the best song writer to come out of England in a long time".
